This collaboration between J.W. Anderson and Topshop has literally gotten me so excited I just had to make a post. I noticed this while updating my LookSoup page, and it struck me as fabulous. Its a sort of weird, dark, yet fantastic collection that I seriously cannot help but adore and I believe the first picture in this post portrays these feelings perfectly. In mainstream fashion, I personally haven't seen anything like this. For instance, printing something so simple as a mini mart on a tee shirt and 'bam' its beautiful. It seems like the thought process behind it was so effortless but it is pure and utter genius to me. Two of the items I think I need to own are the turtle print trousers and the draw string bag with his initials, stamping their approval. I mean, bloodish red turtles on cream is just an amazing thought. And especially the very idea of a turtle on trousers. I have seen many things in fashion, but I have not yet seen turtles on trousers, until now. I love it! I do in fact feel that this collection has quite a niche audience and it is very risky to put this out into the mainstream, but in saying this, I feel that it will quickly gain popularity, and to back up my statement, I was in Oxford Street this afternoon and I literally saw like 20 woman with a J.W.Anderson x Topshop bag within the space of like 5 minutes.
One of my other loves in this collection of beauty is the top with the boy in the mask (see above). On first appearances I thought, 'creepy'? But its has grown on me. I feel like I have to get it. I've probably looked, while typing this post I add, about 10 times at this tee because I love it so. Its truly amazing!
Another thing that draws me in, is the mixture of patterns. Stripes, tartan, quilted tops then block colours to finish off. And this was what I meant by daring.
